Spain - Priorat, Montsant, Terra Alta, Ribera Sacra
Rudeles is a family winery, who owns 42 acres of vineyards composed of 60 plots planted with tempranillo, garnacha and 100-year-old albillo. Most of the vineyards were planted by our own ancestors, an exceptional circumstance in the DO Ribera del Duero.
The basis of the quality for these fine Spanish wines is a constant and thorough devotion to their vineyards. The characteristics of the land and the bush vines imply that all the tasks are developed manually. In the winery, the whole wine process from the grape reception to bottling is strictly controlled, taking into account the advice and age-old customs of the villagers who have made wine for their own consumption over hundreds of years in traditional underground cellars.

Franck was UK Best sommelier in 1996. He obtained the WSET Diploma in 1998 and Master Sommelier Advanced Diploma in 1999. During that time, he worked close to Gerard Basset (MS, MW, OBE and World Best Sommelier 2010). Visiting wine regions across Spain, he started seeking out vineyards with a great potential, most of them century-old vineyards abandoned because of their low yields and located in marginal climates where the fruit has a natural complexity and quality is astonishing. And there, he also met farmers producing high quality wines with an amazing sense of nature. His passion grew and he was ready for a new challenge: he started to work with wineries in lesser known regions like Ribeira Sacra, Terra Alta, and Valdeorras. Wines with a real sense of place.
Franck's mission is nurturing what nature provides, highlighting the undiscovered and sharing it with you.
